An Amazon Pre-Order Disaster

Please read if you have recently downloaded “It Pours”.

IT’S FIXED!!! Please update your Kindle to get the correct version!

There has been a mistake in the ebook manuscript with Amazon. The book currently being sent out to readers and those who ordered a pre-order copy is the working draft Word document that was submitted to Amazon for the purpose of posting pre-order availability. This was a working Word document draft copy and unfortunately this is the copy you may be currently reading.

You will recognize it as it has no copyright page, title page, table of contents, dedication or blurb for my next book at the end.

When the first reader contacted me, I immediately checked my account with Amazon. The finished final copy is the only one present in my account. Thus, the only one I can revise. Yet, it is not the one being sent. Eight emails and one phone call later, Amazon has accepted full responsibility and is working to correct the situation. Although, I think the best outcome they are pushing for is to send the corrected copy to readers, which will essentially be asking them to read a book twice. For this, I am truly sorry.

Beyond quality of the writing and professional appearance of the finished book, I do not think you as a reader will have too many differences in the story itself except for a small addition to the end and the blurb for “After the Storm“.

If you have received one of these unfinished copies, please do contact me. I am terribly sorry for this and would like to try to make it right. My proof of the print version is correct. So I am hoping those will be correct.

UPDATE:

As of Thursday, May 16th, three weeks after I contacted Amazon about the incorrect push content for the book, I’ve heard back again. This time from the technical support team that is having trouble seeing the mistake. They have requested I list the location of each variation, change or difference between the version that is sadly still being sent to readers and the correct, current version I have uploaded into my Amazon bookshelf. As you can imagine this is virtually impossible! I did however send a detailed email of the forefront pages that are missing and the last pages. As for the inner content, I truly don’t know how to send every single change as the copy being sent out was a working copy and has been saved over many times since the pre-order posted. What I do have trouble understanding is that the print version is correct, yet the ebook is not. There is only one bookshelf where I can download the book. There is only one copy there, so how can the print and ebook differ? I have to admit I am terribly frustrated and disheartened at this point that it will ever be fixed and am helpless to do anything. I’ve contemplated deleting the whole book, waiting a week, and then republishing it. But as it is listed with Kindle Unlimited, I can not do any thing for 90 days.

So, for my readers, what possible solution can I offer you? That is what I keep trying to find the answer to. I considered emailing the ebook version to those who contacted me but yes, you guess it…this is against Amazon’s agreement with Kindle Unlimited. I can not offer the ebook version anywhere outside of their site for the 90 day period. I then thought about trying to find an affordable way to offer signed print copies to those readers who would like them but who wants to pay for a book twice? For the large majority, the biggest story addition is the end. The book you read was missing a small piece at the end. Small but big. Ha! I was contacted this morning by a reader who has both the Kindle ebook version and the corrected version. She recommended to post the ending on this post as the small addition at the end changed her entire feelings toward the ending of the story and anticipation for the upcoming books. As I do listen greatly to my readers and those who take the time to reach out or review, I am listening now. Please see the complete last chapter further down the post after the blurb for “After the Storm”.

In the meantime, one of the elements missing from that version is the blurb for After the Storm. I am going to post it below for those who did not see it.

After the Storm

The weight of her heels carried on her fingertips grew exponentially with each step Samantha LeJeune took walking away from the only woman she ever loved. She wanted to turn back, take Rayne Storm into her arms and run away from everything that would keep them apart. The problem was Rayne wasn’t ready to give her what she needed to make a life with her. If she couldn’t runaway with her, she would at least runaway from her and all of the memories of Alabama. Without a clue as to her destination, she hit the road with nothing on her mind but healing her broken heart strong enough to never fall in love again.

Gentry Bell didn’t really have a home like others would describe. For her, home was a small town filled with suffocating memories of painful abuse and betrayal by those who were supposed to love her. There were only two woman who kept her from moving as far away as possible. The sudden passing of one of those women and a new job with the National Park Service, were her signs that it’s time for her to move on. She’s never feared being on her own or venturing out into the unknown. Actually, it has always been her breath of life. But this time, she isn’t alone. Maybe the silence of the wilderness will have the answer she needs to decide what to do about the baby she is carrying.

An immediate connection develops when these two broken women meet on the road that carries them away from the life they were living. But will it be enough to open their hearts to trust again? And if so, will they be strong enough to hold onto that connection when an unborn child seems to be pointing them to return back to a home where memories of trauma and a first love are still everso present in each of their hearts?

    1. It has been quite the long weekend to say the least. I don’t think I have ever checked my Amazon account this many times in a single weekend. I keep waiting for acknowledgement of the correction, but none has come. Thank you very much for your understanding and words!!

  2. I have loved this series and received the wrong copy from the pre-order. CD, if you able to send real one via email great…or I will wait for Amazon to fix. Your great story of Rayne is worth the wait. No worries.

    1. Hi Bre,

Thank you for the sweet comment! It sure made me smile this morning. Ugh. Can I say that online? U. G. H. This has been such an ordeal! I posted an update this morning. Their second response was not as helpful in that they wanted me to send all of the order numbers which received the wrong version. This is really impossible as I have no way of getting that information to them. I would gladly send them your order number if you would like to get it for me. You may email it directly to me. But in the meantime they have asked me to have patience as another team is now looking at the issue. If I have not heard back from them in 72 hours, I will do my best to get an ecopy to you. If it was an affordable option to me I would happily arrange a signed print copy because it means that much to me to have your support in all of this.

This morning, I also posted the blurb for After the Storm. It too was left out of the version that was sent to readers. I hope it will be one you will enjoy. It is Sam’s story more so than Rayne’s. I wanted to show Sam’s journey that parallels Rayne’s in It Pours. Give some insight as to what was going on in her life when she and Rayne ran into each other the night at the club.

      Thank you again,
      C

    1. Hi Nik,

I did not know for sure but I feared it. Thank you for letting me know. I’m concerned there will be no true fix for the Unlimited readers as I’m not sure there is a way for Amazon to send notice to them once the book is corrected. Initially they said they would email each order to inform of the mistake and corrected copy for update but now I’m not sure if they are going to do that.

Thank you so much for the feedback! Reviews and feedback help to keep my book in circulation so thank you very much for taking the time to do that. I hope it will be posted under Nik so that I may know which one is yours. I will definitely look for it.

      Have a great day,

      1. I just realized that my “profile” was updated with my name, so it probably will not update it since I just changed it. Anyway, here is a link to the review, if you wish.

I am glad to hear they are working on fixing the issue and hope it is done quickly. I can understand the dedication and desire to put out your best work and then something like this happens. It can be disheartening. I can tell you I appreciate the effort putting forth to get it corrected. That’s awesome and I have these two books added to my purchase list now too!

        Enjoy the hump day!

      2. Thank you for the review and posting the link. I always check my reviews because I enjoy the feedback. It helps me to know the areas I am doing well at and the ones I need to work on.

Disheartening is a perfect word for how this all feels. In fact, It’s the word I used when I was speaking with an Amazon tech support woman. I was asked to be patient for 72 hours while they work on it. Patience…now that is a tough one. Ha!

Thank you for adding them! I wanted to do Kindle Unlimited to give more readers the opportunity to read the series. It is a very big compliment when you read it and then purchase to keep, so thank you!

        Have a wonderful day!

    1. Hi Believe,

Thank you for the comment! I am so happy you are enjoying getting to know my characters. The series is planned for four books. I am currently writing After the Storm, which will be the next to be released. The last will be Comes the Calm. I say planned because I love these characters so much I’ve sort of thought about spin off books, such as Jazlyn and Violet’s story but I don’t know.

      Have a wonderful day!

      1. Jaz/Vi spinoff would be awesome! I love Vi’s badass attitude at the hospital and how she’s the complete opposite with Jaz!

I thought Mo was bad news when she first came into the second book, but I’m seeing her purpose in Raynes life and I’d love to see a happy ending for her too! Because I knowwwww in the end Stormy and Sam will be together, right????? 😉

Can I leave it at a that? ha!

I love that you are enjoying my characters and are seeing all sides of them. It’s a huge compliment!

  4. Not related to the title, but I did have a question about the 3rd book after reading the excerpt at the end. Is there going to be an end to Sam and Rayne together for good? I understand if you can’t answer directly, but even after reading “it pours” I’m still highly attached to the idea of Sam and Rayne.

    1. Hi Erica,

No worries at all about not relating to the title. I’m always happy to hear from someone who has enjoyed the books! But, you’re comment could actually be very related. Does this mean your version of the book has the excerpt at the end?

I can answer that without giving too much of the story away. Sam and Rayne’s story is very much not over. The third book is Sam’s story that parallel’s Rayne’s. It’s what she is doing and where her life is taking her during the timing of Rayne in It Pours. Wow! Was that as confusing as it just sounded in my head? 🙂

To be honest when I was first coming up with the story, Sam was to be a short lived character. She sort of stole my heart as did the chemistry between her and Rayne. You could say I’m highly attached too. 😉

Thank you again for stopping by to comment! If you have time, I would really like to know if you got the corrected version. Have a great day.

  5. I got the wrong version of it pours too, but thank you for including that excerpt here on your website.

Whether or not Sam and Rayne get the ending I want them to have, your stories so far have been amazing. I truly do hope for Sam and Rayne to have their happily ever after, but alas I guess we will have to keep reading to find out. I love the characters and I do hope l
Mo gets her own happy ending, but
    just not with Rayne 😦

Also, well the story ever elaborate on why Sam says, “I hope not,” but Rayne seems to think she said otherwise?

Oh and when is the next book due out?

Thank you again for these awesome stories!

I did notice how Mo gave a few and it made me sad but I get why she felt that way. Will t

    1. Hi ALR, (cool name)

Thank you! I’m thrilled you are enjoying the series. Big smiles here! And thank you for being understanding of the wrong version. Sadly it is still the one being sent.

I will tell you that you feel the same as most readers. They feel for Mo and want her to have her HEA but NOT with Rayne.

Oh goodness, well…honesty is always the best answer so….help me out here. I am happy to answer your question but which scene are you referring to? The first at the engagement party or the dance club? Or neither.

I can’t say an exact timeline on the next book. I can DEFINITELY say there will NOT be a preorder offered. LOL But I am not yet sure on the timeline as I this is a complete new write. I can tell you I am enjoying this story immensely and it may actually be my personal favorite.

You are so welcome! Thank you for making my day with your comment!

      1. Thank you for your response! I’m terribly excited for what’s to come and I’d be happy to buy the hard copy or whatever You suggest.

The part I was referring to regarding when Sam says, “I hope not,” is the section after the night club at the park.

I didn’t want to give away a spoiler, but this part confuses me because for some reason Rayne interprets that to mean the exact opposite of what Sam said.

Rayne kept referencing that moment as a finality with her thought process and journey, but clearly Sam didn’t state that.

Sorry I hope that makes sense. Anyways, you’re a fantastic author! Keep it up 🙂

      2. You’re very welcome! I am still waiting for Amazon but in the meantime the print is correct. If you want to order it directly from Amazon that is ok or if you want a signed copy I can email you so we can try to figure that one out.

Thank you for being considerate of not giving anything away. I hope anyone who has read this post this far has already read It Pours. With that said, I love talking about the story! You are correct in what you were thinking. Sometimes when things are really tense and full of emotion, we don’t always understand what each other is thinking or saying. BUT…the next book is Sam’s story and will actually have this very scene told from her side. So we will know what she is thinking.

Thank you very much for that sweet comment! I’m excited about the next book and am enjoying writing it. The research was pretty fun too!

  7. I just finished It Pours. After reading earlier remarks, I realize I share with many the desire for Rayne to find Sam again. I was dismayed by Rayne’s relationship with MO.

That said, your descriptions of Rayne’s feelings for Grant, the annoyance of his habits, revulsion at his beard were so … real. Well done.

Also written well were the insights of Flossie about the mothers and daughters. You succeed with the dialect too. Again, well done.

Your writing causes me to invest in these characters. I’ve got mental images of them all and can clearly hear their voices. I’m not ready to stop thinking about them.
So, git in your office, young lady, and git to work on volumes 3 and 4.

    1. Hi Jan,

First, thank you for stopping by the website. Secondly, thank you so much for your comment! As a writer, your comments are such a huge compliment. It was always my dream to create a story and characters that a reader could truly “feel” by showing how the character is reacting in a way where the reader says “I’ve felt that before”. So thank you again very much! I absolutely love that you’ve gotten their visual and voices in your head.

Okay, so you had me at “git”. Ha! Excellent! I’m working away on After the Storm. It is a complete redo from the version earlier depicted while with a different publisher. I wanted to take Sam’s story for a loop. She had become a strong character for me. I’m also introducing another character I really like. I hope you will like it!

      Have a wonderful day,
